Octagon Vase
The Octagon Vase is a copper vase with an octagonal cross-section at every point along its beautiful form—but there is more to it than meets the eye. Copper is a material known for its antimicrobial properties; when it comes into contact with water, it releases copper ions which suppress the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms. This helps keep water clean and makes it easier for flowers to absorb nutrients, resulting in fresher, longer-lasting blooms. The octagon has also been seen as an auspicious symbol since ancient times, believed to draw positive energy from all eight sides while warding off negative forces and misfortune. While copper is a notoriously difficult material to weld and manipulate, the skilled hands of our artisans have achieved a beautifully precise object defined by its sharp lines and clean planes.
Octagon Vaseはどこを切っても八角形になる、銅製の花瓶です。銅は水分に触れると「銅イオン」を発生させ、水中の雑菌やバクテリアの繁殖を強力に抑える優れた殺菌・抗菌作用を持つ素材です。その働きにより水質が清潔に保たれ、花が栄養を吸い上げやすくなるため、花を長持ちさせる効果があります。また、古来より八角形は、四方八方から良い気と幸運を引き寄せ、邪気を払う魔除けや厄除けの縁起の良い形とされています。溶接が難しく扱いの難しい銅という素材ですが、職人たちの高度な技術によって、シャープな線と面による美しい八角形のフォルムが実現しました。

The small pores (“blow holes”) visible on the surface are a common phenomenon resulting from moisture within the copper during the welding process, and they do not negatively affect the vase, or make it any less watertight.
表面のブローホール（細かい気孔）は、銅の中に含まれる水分が溶接時に反応してできたもので、製品として正常です。水漏れなどありませんのでご安心ください。
